ANZAC Day

On ANZAC Day we celebrate to honour the soldiers that fought for us in the war. Some celebrate by having a dawn parade . We call it a dawn parade because that is when the soldiers landed on Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915. We wear poppies and some people might wear their whanaus medals that they won when they were fighting. Poppies are special because they were the first flowers to grow on Gallipoli after the war. We go to memorials and sing , say prayers, say the ode and listen to the last post. At the memorials we lay wreaths on the stones and everybody lays their poppies on them. Veterans are old soldiers that fought in the war and survived. Veterans wear their medals proudly. They celebrate by marching at dawn parades. Some people might cry becuase of all the soldiers that died for us. There might even be whanau who died.
