In the ancient Greek Olympic games only men and boys were allowed to compete. The Olympics take place every four years. If an athlete came second in an event they will be awarded a silver medal. Every four years the Olympic torch was lit so that the people knew about the games. The Olympic torch traveled all around ancient Greece. The symbol of the Olympic games are the five interlocking rings. The five interlocking rings represent the five continents. The paralympic games take place after the Olympic games.
